What is the process?
My first step is to listen to you, the client. You are the expert in your field. Once I understand more about what your organization or company does, and what you'd like to achieve, I can offer my expertise on what type of video might work best for your needs and your budget.
If you are unfamiliar with how video production works or unsure if video is the right solution, don't worry. I often work with people who haven't done this before, and I'd be happy to talk about it with you.

How much will it cost?
In short, it depends. Each project is unique and the cost of production is based on the time, equipment and personnel needed during the three phases of production:
- Pre-production (concept development, planning, scripting, research, location scouting)
- Production (filming)
- Post-production (editing, graphics, color correction, audio processing, video transcoding for delivery to different platforms, e.g. YouTube, Facebook, etc.)
Other potential costs include professional narration, on-camera talent, licensed music tracks, stock footage and travel.
Pre-production is the least expensive phase and Production (filming) is the most. I always advise clients that the more time we spend planning and developing a script or outline in pre-production, the fewer filming hours will be needed, significantly reducing the overall cost of the project.
That said, the finished videos you see on this website - in general - run between $350 and $1000 for the simpler ones, and $2,000 to $10,000 for the longer, more involved projects. We can also design a production plan to fit within a specified budget by modifying its scope.
Do you offer individual services?
Yes. Vid-smith is available for individual production services:
- Aerial Filming
- Videography
- Editing
- Script writing
Where does the name come from?
When I founded the company, its original name was Videosmith Video Production. The idea was to evoke the craftsmanship in what I do.
After 5 years in business, however, I was made aware that a company on the East Coast had established a video rental and production house under that name before I did. Since my company was already known by Videosmith in this region, I simply shortened it instead of completely recreating the brand.
